Sports Injury Rehab
Sports physical therapy treats sprains, strains, tendon problems and running injuries, tests whether you are ready to return, and helps prevent the next injury. LOR Physical Therapy treats athletes from high school to weekend warriors in Laguna Niguel, with a Sports Lab that measures how you move.
Sports Lab: we measure how you move, not just where it hurts
Our Sports Lab uses research grade 2D motion capture to evaluate and monitor your sport-specific movement. It gives real-time pressure measurements, joint angles and high-speed slow-motion footage, so the plan treats what is behind the injury and not only the pain.

The cycling evaluation films you pedaling your own bike and finds the source of the pain.
Golfers
The golf evaluation pairs a TPI screen with 2D motion capture of your swing, and Complete Golf Performance goes further.
Return to sport testing: how we know you are ready
Our return to sport testing uses a series of land-based dynamic movements designed by Dr. Christopher Powers, PhD, PT, FAPTA, with our 2D motion capture, and measures strength, balance, flexibility and limb force and pressure symmetry on the treadmill. It shows who is ready and what to fix first. If surgery was part of your injury, read post-surgical rehab too.
“As a competitive swimmer I needed to make sure my body was functioning properly, so I took a family referral to see John. After a few weeks of rehabilitation, the pain went away and I got back to training at full speed. After finding a comfortable space in LOR, I made sure to come back to John for every athlete ache and pain I came across, from shoulders to glutes. …”
Questions about sports injuries
What is sports rehab?
Sports rehab takes an injured athlete from treatment through strengthening to sport-specific training and a test of readiness. Our Sports Lab measures movement along the way.
What counts as an athletic injury?
An athletic injury is any sprain, strain, tendon problem or overuse injury from training or play, whether you are a team athlete or a weekend runner.
Why do I keep getting a running injury?
A running injury that keeps coming back usually has a cause in how you move, your strength or your training load. Our running evaluation looks at all three.
Is ACL rehab different from other knee rehab?
ACL rehab follows a longer, more structured path to return to sport, and testing at the end matters. Your surgeon’s protocol sets the early steps.
Is there sports PT near me?
LOR Physical Therapy lists sports physical therapy among its services in Laguna Niguel, with a Sports Lab for running, cycling and golf.
Do you treat a youth sports injury?
